Why did I choose this song? Whistling Low/Errigal is actually an instrumental that was composed by Davy Spillane and Donal Lunny - two of the original founding members - along with Irish singer Christy Moore - of the Irish band Moving Hearts. When Moving Hearts broke up in 1985, both Donal Lunny and Davy Spillane went on to become extremely successful songwriters and Irish folk musicians.
Errigal - at 2,466 feet - is the tallest mountain near Gweedore, County Donegal. Mount Errigal is the tallest peak in the Derryveagh mountain chain and was voted 'Ireland's Most Iconic Mountain' in 2009.
