Affinity: Voices and Harps by Moya Brennan and Cormac de Barra (2013)
Genre: Irish Folk
When did we receive it? 15 June 2013
First of all, we would like to thank Anita Daly of Daly Communications for sending us this CD for possible airplay on 'Proud to be Irish'.
Moya (Maire) Brennan comes from a very musical family in Gweedore, County Donegal. In 1970, she began singing with her brothers Pol and Ciaran and their mother's twin brothers Noel and Padraig Duggan in the band Clannad. She is the eldest of nine children - among whom are singing sensation Enya and Irish pop singer Bridin Brennan. Moya is an extremely successful solo artist in her own right.
Cormac de Barra is a harpist, singer and television presenter from Dublin. He is also a member of the Moya Brennan Band. He comes from a family of traditional musicians and singers from Dublin but with roots in County Cork. At the age of ten, he studied Irish harp with his grandmother Roisin Ni She in Dublin before "spending some of the best summers of my life studying concert harp in the USA."
Once again, many thanks to Anita for sending us this CD and we look forward to listening to it in the very near future.
Please keep an eye on our newly reinstated playlists as we may be playing some cuts from this CD on future programs.
